Located in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, the Five Bridge Inn blends an 18th-century New England farmhouse, beautifully landscaped grounds and miles of wooded trails with some of the most elegant event spaces on the South Coast. I’ve photographed many weddings here, including Jillian & Matt’s fall wedding and Leah & Ryan’s summer celebration, and I’m proud to be a preferred photographer at the Five Bridge Inn. It remains one of my favorite venues in New England. Here’s what makes it special, and how I make the most of it for my couples.
The Innkeeper’s Barn is the heart of a Five Bridge Inn wedding. Soaring 40-foot ceilings, cream-colored walls, exposed beams, a second-floor mezzanine and five crystal chandeliers make it bright, airy and refined during the day, perfect for toasts, first dances and candid moments with family. When the sun goes down and the lights drop, the same room turns into the best dance floor around. Afterward, guests can gather around the fire pit outside for s’mores under the stars.
Few venues give couples this many beautiful ceremony options on one property. Choose the octagonal Gazebo Chapel, the covered Ceremony Pavilion with its chandeliers, the Birch Arbor, or the newest addition: the Stone Arch, complete with a bursting water fountain and natural forest as a backdrop. Leah and Ryan said their vows under the Stone Arch, and the combination of stone, greenery and filtered forest light made for some of my favorite ceremony images of the year.
The Inn itself is a dream for getting ready. The bridal suite has classic colonial character, gorgeous window light and a grand staircase that makes for stunning portraits. Below, there’s generous space for the whole wedding party, including a hair and makeup studio, lounges and a closet just for hanging dresses, so everyone is relaxed, the timeline stays on track, and the getting-ready photos feel calm and uncluttered.
The Five Bridge Inn has a little bit of everything when it comes to light: bright white interiors, shaded forest ceremony sites, wide-open lawns at sunset and a dark, energetic dance floor at night. A photographer who truly knows how to work with light makes all the difference. I balance window light in the bridal suite so skin tones stay soft and true, read the dappled light under the trees at the Stone Arch so faces aren’t blotchy, time portraits for golden hour on the main lawn in front of the inn, and bring in off-camera flash after dark so the energy of the Innkeeper’s Barn dance floor comes through without losing its glow. The result is a gallery that looks consistent, polished and effortless from the first moment of the day to the last song.
